Mason PUD 3 has gone 38 consecutive years with clean audits from the Washington State Auditor's Office

(SHELTON, WA) -- Mason PUD 3 today received its 38th consecutive clean report from the Washington State Auditor’s Office on the PUD’s financial management, operations, and compliance with state laws and regulations.
PUD 3 officials met with representatives of the Auditor’s Office to review the results of the annual examination.
“Our mission is to provide safe, reliable and economical service every day,” said Annette Creekpaum, PUD 3 manager. “Today’s report shows that our employees follow the high standards required by the state. The audit verifies that our financial management and day-to-day operations are of the highest quality.”
The Washington State Auditor’s office focused on financial and accountability audits in its recent review of Mason PUD 3. Financial audits ensure the PUD accounts for public funds. Accountability audits certify that units of state and local government adhere to required laws and regulations relating to financial matters such as bidding and contracts.
PUD 3 has received twelve consecutive Certificates of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the International Government Finance Officers Association of the U-S & Canada. The PUD’s annual reports have won honors from the Northwest Public Power Association and American Public Power Association.
The PUD was the first diamond level Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) in Washington State, as designated by the American Public Power Association (APPA). This year the PUD received a renewal of the RP3 designation. The program recognizes the utility for providing its customers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric service. There are now three public utilities with the diamond recognition in the state. PUD 3 is among 235 of the nation’s more than 2,000 public power utilities to earn the recognition. It’s one of 76 to reach the diamond level.
