One of Mason PUD 3's regional partners, the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA), will be conducting a randomly sampled survey of about 1,000 PUD 3 customers during the month of June. They will be sending out recruitment postcards beginning the week of June 23. If you receive a postcard inviting you to participate, we'd encourage you to do so. (GRAPEVIEW, WA) – A tree across power lines cut electricity to 617 customers early this afternoon in the Grapeview area south of Allyn. The outage began at 12:12 PM, and Mason PUD 3 crews had all customers back online by 3:05 PM.

Nearly 500 customers had electrical service restored at 1:18 PM, when PUD 3 linemen redirect electricity from other areas. The PUD has a number of switches throughout its distribution system which allows it to redirect power from other directions, including substations. PUD substations are designed to have extra capacity to take on extra customers during storm restoration, maintenance, and safety work.

General areas affected include:

  • Grapeview Loop Road from the north intersection of SR 3 to the intersection with Eckert Road. Nearby roadways and Treasure Island are affected.

PUD 3 recommends unplugging sensitive appliances and electronic equipment until power has been restored for approximately 20 minutes. In addition, especially with electronics, it is important to consider using surge protection.
