PUD 3 Receives International Recognition for Financial Reporting - National Awards for Communications

International Government Finance Officers Association and American Public Power Association recognized PUD 3 for its excellence in financial reporting. The American Public Power Association celebrated the PUD's communications efforts
(SHELTON, WA) – November was an award-winning month for Mason PUD 3’s financial managers and communicators.
PUD 3 received its thirteenth consecutive international recognition for the quality and completeness of its financial reporting.
The PUD was given a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by the International Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada. The PUD is one of only three public utility districts in Washington State to apply for such recognition for its financial reporting.
In addition to the 13 consecutive GFOA awards for financial reporting, the utility’s operations are inspected annually by the Washington State Auditor’s Office, and have not been subject to a finding in over 37 years.
Meanwhile, Mason PUD 3’s communications efforts in video production and social media received high honors this month from the American Public Power Association (APPA).
The association awarded PUD 3 with “Awards of Merit” in its class for:
The class included utilities with gross revenues of less than $75 million.
In September, PUD 3 won five “Excellence in Communications Contest” awards from the Northwest Public Power Association for its annual report, internal communications, advertising campaign, website, and social media.
The PUD has a Diamond Level designation as one of the nation’s Reliable Public Power Providers, the highest designation from the American Public Power Association.
Mason PUD 3 includes about 600 square miles of service territory, with nearly 34,000 electricity customers. PUD 3 also operates a wholesale fiber optic telecommunications network, which supports the operation of its electric distribution services.
