FLAGGER: $19.16 per hr. PUD 3 is currently seeking part-time traffic control flaggers to keep our community moving! Applicants must be willing to work on an on-call basis, maintain a current flagging card issued by the state of Washington, maintain a current CPR/First Aid card, and perform all flagging duties required to maintain a safe and efficient work area for PUD crews. If you enjoy working outside and are readily available to work, apply now.

JOURNEYMAN LINEMEN:  All applicants must hold a journeyman lineman’s card, be able to pass a physical examination, a written technical knowledge examination and a practical test, possess or be able to obtain a Washington state class “A” commercial driver’s license in order to operate utility trucks and have a good driving record. Successful applicants must be willing to live within 30 minutes travel time under normal conditions of their regularly assigned headquarters or live within the district’s service territory.

STUDENT TRAINEE: Part-time positions within the utility are available from time-to-time for full-time high school or college students.  Positions duties range from clerical to laborer.  The student employment program at the PUD is designed to afford practical experience in the workplace, encourage continuing education and to assist with educational expenses.

Customer Service Representative

Current and future positions in our Shelton and/or Belfair offices.

 

What You Would Do:

Successful candidates will act as the utility’s representative to ensure our customers receive exceptional and efficient service. Assist customers by phone, computer and in person regarding changes in service, billing inquires, payment arrangements, and other utility services.

Qualifications Include:

  • Excellent customer service and communications skills.
  • Ability to operate all types of electronic office equipment. 
  • Ten-key adding machine by touch and computer skills.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere, interfacing with employees and customers alike in a courteous and responsive manner.
  • Accuracy in working detail is necessary while effectively managing time and assume a variety of responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a customer service setting.
  • English/Spanish bilingual encouraged to apply.

Records Compliance Intern

$16 per hour
 


Position Summary: 

This work will provide valuable hands-on work experience for students interested in government administration, information technology, records management and information governance. It will provide an excellent opportunity to become familiar with the application of the Washington State Retention Schedule (CORE) metrics that govern records management, retention, and disposition for local government entities. 

Hours: 25 Hours a week; project duration to run about six months with possibility of extension. Applicants needs to be available through entire project duration.  

Project-Related Duties:

  • Prepare hard copy documents for scanning (with focus on engineering work orders, maps and surveys, correspondence, applications, government permit documentation, land use instruments, and contracts.
  • Assist with appropriate indexing (such as assignment of attributes/tags and retention metrics) to ensure electronically stored content can be appropriately searched/retrieved.
  • Complete the physical scanning and organization of electronic content into the PUD’s electronic document management system.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Very detailed oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze documents and records for:
    • Categorization
    • Indexing
  • Sees value in repetitive detailed tasks; has the ability to stay focused while performing tasks.
  • Ability and willingness to learn PUD 3’s records and filing system.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Willingness and ability to quickly learn about PUD structure and function.
  • Willing to accept and successfully perform both the engaging/intellectually challenging portions of this job position, as well as the repetitive detail-oriented portions of this job position.

This position requires:

  • An eagerness to work and gain experience in a professional environment.
  • Repetitive movement while scanning documents.
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis.

A valid WA State driver’s license and reliable transportation will be necessary.

Position Summary: Flagger

The flagger position is responsible for supporting line and tree trimming crews by providing safe and efficient traffic control at or near job sites.

Job Duties:

  • Safely direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic at or near District job sites.
  • Provide clear and positive guidance to drivers and co-workers through use of traffic control equipment.
  • Attend three of the four flagger safety meetings per year to be eligible in the flagging pool.
  • Must perform duties in a courteous and respectful manner, even when dealing with agitated drivers. 

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Punctuality and regular attendance when scheduled to work.
  • Ability to receive and carry out specific instructions via radio; communicating quickly and clearly to effectively relay traffic information to other team members.
  • Interact in a professional and respectful manner with other PUD employees, contractors, and the public.
  • Knowledgeable of OSHA safety rules and regulations, and safety standards in hazardous traffic environments.
  • Must wear proper PPE (personal protective equipment) in accordance with state standards. 

Other:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalency and be 18 year of age or over.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License and have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a Washington State Flagger’s Certification and hold a current First Aid Card with CPR.
