Mason PUD 3 Commissioner Bruce Jorgenson Announces Retirement

Mason PUD 3 Commissioner Bruce Jorgenson Announces Retirement

by Mason PUD 3 on

December 08, 2022

With two years remaining on his term, Commissioner Jorgenson's retirement is effective December 31, 2022.

Long time PUD 3 Commissioner, Bruce Jorgenson, announced his retirement at the PUD’s December 6, 2022 Board of Commissioners meeting. Commissioner Jorgenson was first elected in 1995 and is just shy of completing his fifth term in office.

At the meeting, PUD 3 Commission Chair, Linda Gott (who is also retiring at the end of December), read the resignation letter from Commissioner Jorgenson, which will be effective December 31, 2022.

Commissioner Jorgenson has represented the utility and the ratepayers of Mason PUD 3 well. In his 28 years as commissioner, he has served ten of those years as president of the board. His guidance and experience have helped develop the PUD into the strong organization it is today.

At the age of 92, Commissioner Jorgenson has not only had an amazing career in public service with the PUD, but he has also been a pillar in our community as a business owner (Co-Founder of KMAS) and a proud military veteran. He was awarded a Purple Heart medal for his U.S. Army service in Korea, and held several officer appointments before retiring as a colonel.

PUD 3 Manager, Annette Creekpaum, said, “I am grateful for the years I’ve had the privilege to work with Bruce. He has been a consistent voice throughout my entire career with PUD 3. The PUD will face a big learning curve - losing two long-standing commissioners at the same time.”

Mason PUD 3’s team will miss the value of Commissioner Jorgenson’s leadership but wishes him well in his retirement.

The Board of Commissioners will appoint his successor at an upcoming meeting.
