Underground Fiber Distribution Construction - Underground Line Extension Necessary

Underground Fiber Distribution Construction

When the PUD has to extend its fiber lines underground there are a few more things to consider.

Overhead fiber lines are pretty simple. Unfortunately, if you have underground electrical service and the PUD does not have underground fiber distribution from the hut to your house or service terminal, things are a bit more complicated.

If you and your neighbors are interested in connecting to the fiber optic network, contact us at 360-432-1550 to arrange a site visit with a PUD 3 fiber engineer.

If there are multiple homes in your area, we recommend setting a time where all interested parties can be available, or working with your neighbors to designate a single project coordinator. In most cases, the neighborhood will also need to interview and select an licensed and bonded excavation contractor to provide the trenching and restoration for the conduits.

This appointment with a PUD 3 engineer will also include a review of your current electrical service. The engineer will work with you and your neighbors to plan a route for installing fiber optic cable and a distribution network to your neighborhood and home.
